The Economist recently ran an article discussing "ageing in the rich world" and how this large demographic trend would lead to changes in policy, especially those policies concerning retirement, which, as the article posits, will have to eventually raise the retirement age higher as people are living longer. However, although it is not the article's main aim to discuss, this demographic trend does have another side-effect: people are getting old enough to present a problem for national labor forces. There's a growing gap of labor that needs to be filled, but by whom...?
